On last year's occasionally brilliant Reality Check, the French band's Love No is a hilarious, sleazy, and brutally scathing snipe at a nagging girlfriend who disapproves of the narrator's self-absorbed internet stonerdom. Summer always ends too soon, and before long I'm sure beachy dance music will sound as cloying as rock fans considered the Beach Boys by the late 1960s. Like Wavves in Barcelona, Delorean. Throw her heart
Here in Spain we couldn't quite believe it when Pitchfork gave a very high note to this EP and began the Delorean overhype in a sudden. They actually deserve it: their New Order approach to the DFA sound that could be found sometimes in their Delorean album and everytime in the Metropolitan Death and Into The Plateau/Transatlantic KK is unique and addictive, and here they changed the sound just a bit. Less melodramatic, with lots of nods to the electronica scene during the 90s (oldschool loops, some diva voices at the background, pianos), wise production choices that show that they have good taste taking their influences (the "Happy House"-like piano - from Juan McLean, that is - in Big Dipper), it's actually a great advance of what would come in their following album, Subiza.

New Order is still there, but also lots of other things that make those four songs an addicting experience, and much happier and brighter than their previous work. So maybe the hype is overwhelming, but the songs are really good.
