What is already said: a sentimental variation on "Music sounds better with you". But, somewhere between those familiar sounds (guitars, basslines, echoes) and that typical vocal tune there is real soul, and it is, it really is, one of the most beautiful house tunes of the last years. Catchy, melancolic, just beautiful. I'm talking about the "club" mix: the later album mix, as the album itself, works much worse.

While at first listen "Give It Away" sounds like "Deepest Blue II" after the second listen the similarities start to fade: where "Deepest Blue" was a pleasant, catchy song somewhat in the vein of Stardust's "Music Sounds Better..." it lacked any real punch. The other two mixes aside, the Club Mix of "Give It Away" opens with the familiar "Deepest Blue" sound coupled with the beginning of a percolating vocal that, by the end of the song, parallels the urgency of the instrumental components by matching their urgency with an almost desperate passion in the lead singer's voice. The vocals in the follow up to "Blue" are sung with so much more enthusiasm that by the song's end you sort of wonder what the big deal was about their first song anyway as you turn the volume back down from the max your amp could take...
