A Tale of Two Cities is the debut album by British musical group Mr Hudson & The Library, released on 5 March 2007. It is named after the Charles Dickens novel of the same name. The album was produced by Gilmour, and consists mostly of blues, guitar oriented rock songs except for the piano-dominated ballad So Far Away. A Tale of Two Cities is an 1859 historical novel by Charles Dickens, set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution. The novel tells the story of the French Doctor Manette, his 18-year-long imprisonment in the Bastille in Paris and his release to live in London with his daughter Lucie, whom he had never met. The story is set against the conditions that led up to the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. A Tale of Two Cities is a musical with book, music and lyrics by Jill Santoriello based on the 1859 novel of the same name by Charles Dickens. The show received the 2009 Outer Critics Circle Award. The dialogue is tense and intelligently adapted, and while it takes some time to find its feet after around the halfway mark and we understand the characters and know who they are there is some very tense plotting which suited it fine, A Tale of Two Cities needs that.
