When joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young as a fourth member, they are called Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young CSNY. They are noted for their intricate vocal harmonies, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, political activism, and lasting influence on American music and culture. David Crosby Talks New Solo Album, Hopes for CSNY Reunion Tour. The set was produced by Joel Bernstein and Graham Nash. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Youngs 1974 reunion trek was one of the most ambitious tours attempted up until that point. With a live album from the legendary 1974 CSNY reunion shows to be released, we revisit the tour with this classic NME feature, taken from Rock's Backpages, the home of online music writing. Time between has greatly increased the in-concert capabilities of the band. What were once chaotic, muddled jams are now perfectly audible, shit-kicking guitar duels. Crosby and Nash get all passionate singing while Stills contributes some funky wah-wah piano. Pre-Road Downs finds the four of them standing in a circle playing hell out of their guitars. One of the things we play best, Stills said later, is the new arrangement of Pre-Road Downs. July 7, 2014. Contemporary PopRock SingerSongwriter Soft Rock Album Rock. Recording Date. My only slight criticism is that there are only 8 songs on the DVD, if the Wembley master tapes are available, it would have been good to have some additional performances. I may not be impartial as I saw the Wembley concert and loved it. However, this is a fine record of the music from the tour by one of the biggest bands of that era. Kudos to Graham Nash for persevering with this project for so long. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young reunited in 1974 for their first tour in four years, playing stadiums and arenas. Joel Bernstein. Call it the summer of cynicism. In the warm months of 1974, Richard Nixon faced impeachment, the loathed Vietnam War wheezed into its final year, and apathetic became the media's favorite term to describe the nation's youth. In the space of just 11 months - between August 1969 and July 1970 - various configurations of the group produced two classic studio albums and launched a tour that yielded a bracing live double LP. On the tour, the CSNY band members lent their voices to songs by each other, captured well on CSNY 1974
