This is the 1st release recorded by Ismael Rivera when he was released from prison in 1974 after being sentenced in 1961 on a drug smuggling charge. Reunited with his old friend Rafael Cortijo to make this great release. FYI: If Ismael Rivera never went to jail, there would be no El Gran Combo. The original Gran Combo were actually Cortijos musicians! They banded together and hired Joseito Mateo as lead singer for their 1962 debut LP "Meneame Los Mangos."
