Info
Ever since Chuck Mangione was stamped and branded as commercial, we have tended to forget that his first album with a full orchestra was a considerable risk at the time. The concert's 26-minute centerpiece Friends and Love quickly establishes itself as a multi-faceted, often intimately folk-based vocal suite, with interludes of orchestral Dixieland and Latin jazz, though it trails off inconclusively. The best tune of the concert - and perhaps the most artistically successful fusion of Mangione's life - is the gently insistent Hill Where the Lord Hides, which exudes a life force that remains irresistible. FRIENDS & LOVE CONCERT 1970 This is PART 2 of 2 parts from the live concert in 1970. Friends & Love Theme - Don Potter vocals Someone Take Me Home - & Chuck Mangione Concert is a double album recorded live at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, New York on May 9, 1970, and released by Mercury Records. It features Chuck Mangione on flugelhorn the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mangione Don Potter Bat McGrath Gap Mangione Stanley Watson Marvin Stamm and Gerry Niewood.
