Pressure Chief is the fifth studio album by American band Cake. It was released on October 5, 2004, pushed back from its original August release date. It was produced by the band and recorded in a converted house in Sacramento. The lead single, No Phone peaked at 13 on the U. Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The second single Carbon Monoxide garnered some airplay but failed to crack the Modern Rock Tracks top 40. The album was the band's second and last record under Columbia Records. Pressure Chief. I am a huge Cake fan and I own all of there albums and Pressure Chief was a huge dissapointment. This is not exactly a bad album, but compared to Cake's other excellent albums hint: Fashion Nugget and Comfort Eagleit just isn't as good. Cake has seem to lost there edge and the music doesn't seem as full, or as crafty. While this album isn't horrible I will say right off the bat that it isn't very good. Cake Format: Audio CD. From the uniformly rustic cover art, the jerky rhythms and wobbly trumpet solos, each of Sacramento band's albums is reassuringly interchangeable.
