To my ears, it's not so much the pressing that's frustrating (mine is yellow, plays fine, not crackly) as the fact that it's MONO. While I haven't yet seen the film, this sounds like clean score and not like the music & effects that plague many unofficial soundtrack releases. It's a nicely produced/packaged release (very nice artwork & design) and will probably have to do until a full-frontal stereo release materializes.

Just got my copy. Wish I saw the comments before I ordered it. Dreadfully crackly and noisy. Takes away from this awesome score

I have the yellow version and was surprised that it played very quiet. Must have gotten a good one.

Wow. Looking through your reviews, it's pretty clear that you're not doing basic cleaning on your records. Why spend $40 on a premium piece of vinyl if you're not going to take care of it? Get a Record Doctor at least.

Seriously? You have to CLEAN your records! These are amazing remastered pressings on premium vinyl. You have to clean them with a decent record cleaner, and you need to store them in anti-static inner sleeves. Get a proper record cleaning machine and *then* you can complain about sound quality. Also, clean your stylus.

play it a few more times before you decide.. often a record needs to be broken in a bit and or has "release" on it from the press which playing will also remove usually. (apparently washing really helps this) but this only works if you want to really enjoy the record. trying to keep it "valuabe" by never playing it will often result in not ever hearing it properly.. so, I guess one must decide how they interact with vinyl. as a seller? as a buyer? a stasher or open and play 'er... I like to play mine when i make pottery and know ive gotten this result more than once.. it seems much more common on colored vinyl (I love it), and I think its from a release agent that might differ from the black? (but this is just a thought).p.s. of course your set up matters.p.p.s. I have a red copy (cosmic event) of this record on its way this week.. ill let you know how it sounds ;)cheers! :D
