Flamingo is the debut solo studio album by American singer-songwriter and The Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers. It was released on September 3, 2010, by Island Records. It was recorded at Battle Born Studios in Winchester, Nevada, and Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, California. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. After a mysterious countdown on The Killers' official website, Flowers confirmed on April 29, 2010, that he would be releasing a solo album titled Flamingo. Album 2010 15 Songs. Throughout Flamingo, contrasts provide palpable tension while retaining some of the Springsteen worship that peppered the Killers' sophomore album Sam's Town. Jenny Lewis sings harmonies on the theatrical sounding Hard Enough where her warm and dusty vocals run perpendicular to Flowers' icy lulls. Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts sounds highly inspired by Born to Run-era The Boss until the tune's bridge breaks down into a bout of post-punk ambience, but both worlds collide nicely at the end, making for a triumphant conclusion. Left to his own devices, Brandon Flowers rushes back to the faded facades, tattered dreams, and overheated pomp of the Killers second album, a divisive lab exercise in splicing the DNA of Springsteen and Echo & the Bunnymen. Flowers tales of West Coast losers on a last-chance power drive are pretty much the only differentia between Flamingo - with all his neon lights and turned trick cards, its surely named after the fabulous casino and not the bird - and a Killers album. I had high hopes for Brandon's first solo effort. I love The Killers and I knew that this album would be very different but sometimes change is not always a good thing.
