Two more Brainticket albums followed-Adventure in 1980 and Voyage in 1982-before Vandroogenbroeck disbanded the group. He then made a series of recordings for the German label Coloursound, who supplied ambient and mood music film and TV documentaries. 1983 Brainticket reunited with Willy Seefeldt, Hans Deyssenroth and Bruno Spoerri on lyricon and synthesizers for a concert in Zurich at the symposium Computer and Music, 1984 for concerts at Rote Fabrik Zurich and a Festival in Tübingen. Again, just like their previous album, Adventure, you want to buy the original LP, as Cleopatra Records accidentally switched the recordings around so Adventure became Voyage and vice versa when both were reissued on CD back in 1997. The only real reason you might consider the 1997 CD reissues of both (other than cost), are the bonus cuts. It's too bad you're hearing the opposite album when you buy the CD reissues of their early '80s efforts. Voyage proved to be Brainticket's final album (until 2000, with the techno-oriented Alchemic Universe). I am rather surprised how un-80s this 1982 release is! They stick to the same gear (and same lineup! Surprise! which is not usual for Brainticket) of Moog, ARP 2600, EMS synthi A, computer (RMI Keyboard Computer? Likely, as this is still a bit before the MIDI-era), electric piano, and clavinet. I don't notice any newer early '80s polyphonic synths, or much anything revealing this was from 1982. This was recorded all in one night, and has a rather highly experimental feel, with lots of analog keys and ethnic percussion. Early '80s Brainticket is vastly underrated, as far as I'm concerned. I really think this stuff is more greatly appreciated if you're an electronic music fan, as this stuff is much more electronic than their early stuff. Great stuff, especially for fans of analog keyboards.
