With the release of 2010s Black Sands, Simon Green better known by his stage name Bonobo has become a more prominent figure in the trip-hop community. With it, Greens mesmerizing beats simply went with the flow, and his consistent output over the course of several LPs and even more remixes became simply too much to ignore. But it was 2003s Dial M for Monkey, Bonobos 2nd LP and 1st with the major record label Ninja Tune, which helped propel Bonobos name into the limelight. I discovered this particular album through the excellent 2008 TV series Jpod, for which Bonobo supplied its theme song, Flutter. I thought at the time: Who writes stuff like this Then, after discovering the song's source and listening to samples of Dial 'M' for Monkey, I realized that Bonobo . Simon Green is a very inventive and inspired DJ. Rather than writing tunes, Green sets a mood and then draws you in by developing it in interesting ways. There obviously has been a repress of the ZEN 80X in the previous month or so.
