Info
The Best of Black Sabbath is a double CD compilation album by Black Sabbath released in 2000 on the Sanctuary Records label. Its 32 songs are presented chronologically from the band's first 11 albums, spanning the years 1970 to 1983. Black Sabbath's classic six-album run, from 1970s debut Black Sabbath through 1975's Sabotage is celebrated with three to six songs from each album. Original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne's subsequent final two albums with the band, 1976's Technical Ecstasy and 1978's Never Say. The best album Sabbath ever made without Ozzy or Dio. Live Evil 1983. The palindromic title of this double-live album suggested business as usual for Black Sabbath. But in controversial circumstances, Live Evil would mark the end of Sabbaths first era with Ronnie James Dio. Sabotage was conceived as a back-to-basics album, a return to what Bill Ward called the iron-clad sound of Black Sabbath. This much was evident in the bludgeoning riffs of Symptom Of The Universe and The Writ, the latter a stinging riposte to Meehan. Best Black Sabbath album to have ever been recorded Best lineup of Black Sabbath, by far: Ozzy Osbourne - vocals Tony Iommi - guitar Geezer Butler - bass Bill Ward - drums. Scoring a huge album with a second singer was almost a miracle. Doing it a third time seemed virtually impossible. Luckily for them, Deep Purple were on hiatus at this point, and Ian Gillan was looking for a gig. He was clearly the best man for the job, and in 1983 they entered the studio to cut Born Again.
