During the recording of the digital masters and the subsequent transfer to disc, the entire audio chain was transformerless. The signal was not passed through any processing device (i.e., compression, limiting, or equalization) at any step during production.
Sampling frequency conversion of Telarc's Soundstream digital master to the Compact Disc format was accomplished with the Studer SFC-16 sampling frequency converter. The digital information was not subject to any analog intersteps, thus preserving the integrity of the original digital master.

Info
Maurizio Pollini recorded the five piano concertos twice for Deutsche Grammophon. First with Karl Böhm and Eugen Jochum in the first two concertos and the Vienna Philharmonic and later with Claudio Abbado and the Berlin Philharmonic. Alfred Brendel recorded all Beethoven's piano concertos at least three times over his career. Murray Perahia recorded all five of Beethoven's piano concertos with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with conductor Bernard Haitink, 1988. Richard Goode recorded the five Beethoven concertos with the Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Iván Fischer in 2005. Альбом 1984 Песен: 6. Rudolf Serkin's recordings of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major and the Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, recorded in 1983 and 1982, respectively, have been reissued without any remastering in Telarc's Classics line, apparently because the label regards the original digital masters to be pure enough without further enhancements. Serkin pursues a bold approach in these works, and Seiji Ozawa and the Boston Symphony Orchestra are accordingly robust and muscular in their accompaniment. This sorts well with Beethoven's heroic style and his symphonic expansiveness, and affords Serkin the opportunity to play with a fairly big Romantic sound. It is no secret that there are quite a few excellent recordings of the Five Beethoven Piano Concertos available - especially Brendel both sets with Chicago and Vienna, Kempff, Perahia, Schiff, the list goes on. However, what I find particularly stunning about Rudolf Serkin's readings of the Beethoven Concertos is the pure human element he somehow employs in his playing and at the same time his ability to transcend that same element. Serkin's performances are, as I said in my subject line, brilliant. Concerto No 1: Allegro con brio - Rudolf Serkin Seiji Ozawa: Boston Symphony Orchestra.
