Info
One Foot in the Grave is the third independent studio album and fourth overall by American alternative rock musician Beck, released in June 1994 on K Records, an independent label. It was recorded prior to the release of Mellow Gold, but was not released until after that album had met critical and commercial success. One Foot in the Grave shows a strong lo-fi and folk influence, and features several songs that are interpolations or covers of songs popularized by artists like Skip James and The Carter. I absolutely love this album, it is Beck's best in my opinion by far, and this release does it justice. The extra tracks are a great bonus, and just another reason to pick this album up If you are a Beck fan, and love this album like I do, this is the version for you Répondre Me notifier Helpful. minimum riffage. I know I'm pretty much alone in this opinion, but I believe this album to be the best thing Beck has ever done. Keep in mind, I haven't heard anything since Midnite Vultures. Should I really bother though . Every other song on One Foot juxtaposes a world burning down or burned out with sitting on one's ass. I could quote forever in support, but because this isn't a book report, I'll offer one line, my favorite, from I've Seen the Land Beyond: There's no telling who'll be dead When the pale horse is turning red And the tongues will burn in vain And everything will feel the same. About half these jeremiads double as love songs, a form Beck didn't revisit in earnest again until 2002's Sea Change. While SC was unimaginatively billed
