Can anyone confirm that this Vinyl Me release is any better than the 2016 DGC USA pressing? They both seem to share the BG remastering according to Discogs. I have the DGC and found it just okay. Thanks!

According to Vinyl me customer support, the Vinyl ME is a re-issue, not a remastering. Could it be that all 2016 DGC and Vinyl Mes are the same?

This pressing is superb. Nice full, rich sound. A great low end that really rounds out the sound and punchy drums. Quality pressing, no surface noise, centered, flat, no flaws. Great sound on this one. Spacious soundstage, doesn't sound compressed, makes my speakers come alive. Engaging, would reccomend.

MEllODrOnE When I first listened to these reissues I didn't think much of them. But I recently upgraded my stylus and preamp and went back and listened to both copies, they both sound exactly the same. I was able to give them both a more detailed listen this time around and there is really no difference between the two. When I first played the black edition, for some reason I thought it sounded just ok but it's actually as good as what I have described above. I've also become a more experienced listener since then, sorry for any confusion! Ah yes, that makes perfect sense. ???? I was actually suspecting before you made your reply that a turntable upgrade was what made all the difference. I've been mulling over the question of which vinyl version of Odelay to buy for a while now and thanks to your insights I now know for sure it's the BG remaster I will pull the trigger on. I'm not surprised, given his reputation, that Mr. Grundman would be able to squeeze so much depth and detail into those tight grooves - and we all know that Odelay is fairly lengthy for a single LP.And no worries! I can definitely relate. I find it interesting to look upon how I myself have gained experience as a listener over the past year - it all happened by chance and its allowed me to more fully appreciate the intricacies of the music I love. Might I add - some vintage records that I didn't really treat as sonically special some 6 or 7 years ago now turn out to sound excellent, spacious and detailed to me, thanks to fresh ears as well as an improved stereo setup.

So you're implying the VMP coloured vinyl sounds BETTER than the 2016 black version derived from the same metalwork and mastering, with the same runout etchings (and I've seen your review of that)? That's something.

Lovely reissue. Excellent sound, silent, crackle and pop free pressing with a nice colour. well done, vinyl me please! Others seem to have been unlucky with their copies. At least vmp staff should help you out to get a nice pressing.

I'd avoid this pressing. My copy is horrible on numerous levels. Skips within first 30 seconds on both side A and B, whole side A has constant surface noise, wax has blatant manufacturing flaws present in numerous spots on side A, edge of the Lp has excess wax hanging off of it and some pieces have come off and adhered to the wax. My whole copy is pretty much a complete shit show. I'll be forced to buy a diff version, this one blows.

My copy is perfectly flat and sounds immaculate. One of the best VMP pressings I've heard, right up there with Broonzy and Four Tet

My copy sounds just dandy. BG mastering and Pallas pressing, doesn't get much better than that. I didn't have any serious issues with surface noise, just the normal occasional occurrences. Besides it's Odelay, surface noise just enhances the music!

If your crackling is on Readymade, the song has crackling built into the song. If it's non-stop throughout Side A, that is the defect.
