The Beatles' Please Please Me album was rush-released by Parlophone on 22nd March, 1963 to capitalise on the enormous success of the title track which had been the group's second single and their first no. 1 in the majority of UK charts. Ten of the album's fourteen tracks were recorded in just one day - 11th February, 1963. These included a mixture of stage favourites and Lennon-McCartney originals. The four remaining songs had been committed to tape in 1962 having formed the B-side of their debut release and both sides of their second single. A slightly later record. Please Please Me is the debut album by the English rock band the Beatles. Produced by George Martin, it was released on EMI's Parlophone label on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdom, following the success of the band's singles Please Please Me and Love Me Do, which reached number 1 on the NME and Melody Maker charts and number 17 on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. The album topped Record Retailer's LP chart for 30 weeks, an unprecedented achievement for a pop album at that time. At the time it was unusual for a group to write their own material The Beatles, however, swiftly revealed to listeners that they were anything but a run-of-the mill band. The Beatles were not immune to this trend the cover of Please Please Me even carried the tagline with Love Me Do and 12 other songs but the quality of the songs on the LP was testament to their ambition and musical knowledge, and the willingness of Parlophone staff producer George Martin to try to get the best from them.
