It features instrumental songs released during Check Your Head and Ill Communication's years, with a few alternate mixes. On their first instrumental album, The In Sound From Way Out, Beastie Boys went digging in their catalogue for an exploration of groove. By 1996, the trio was ready to delve into something sonically different. They first released The In Sound From Way Out on 2 April through their French fan club. The name and album art were inspired by a compilation album by Perrey And Kingsley a collaborative electronic work, it was comprised of spliced animal sounds, electronic loops and melodies. Beasties record is, however, completely different, its title serving as a homage to the reconstructive nature of the album. This is a compilation album that came out originally in 1996. It's the instrumental tracks from Check Your Head and Ill Communication era. There are some alternative tracks, cuts from singles and 2 tracks with the vocals removed. It's a good album if you want some chill music to play in the background. Depending on your system this album will get pretty bass heavy if you are looking for that. I tried this album out on my 90's technics system and it had the windows rattling. When I later played the album on my Audioengine A speakers it sounded good but those speakers aren't.
