Barry Devlin born 27 November 1946 is an Irish musician, screen writer and director. Devlin is from Moortown in Ardboe, County Tyrone. He began to train as a Columban priest, leaving to study English at University College Dublin, then joining a graphics company as a screenwriter. He was in the pioneering Irish Celtic rock band Horslips as bass player, vocalist and front man. After the breakup of Horslips, Devlin released the 1983 solo album Breaking Star Codes. From 1984, an ad for Barry Devlin's 'Breaking Star Codes' Devlin is best known as bass player and founding member of Horslips. He was also the main vocalist during the band's original existance 1970-1980 though he doesn't seem to sing as many of the songs since Horslips return in 2004. In 1983 Barry issued a solo album called Breaking Star Codes. This was a concept album or song cycle with 12 songs, each loosely based on the 12 signs of the zodiac.
