Erstwhile enjoys pairing an acoustic free improviser with an electric one the duo of trumpeter Axel Dorner and guitaristelectronicist Kevin Drumm is one of its most inspired combinations. While Dorner can be heard playing mainstream avant-garde in other contexts such as the fine hatOLOGY release by Sven-Ake Johansson, Six Little Pieces for Quintet, here he rarely plays anything that sounds remotely trumpet-like. Kevin Drumm born 1970 is an experimental musician based in Chicago, United States. Emerging from the city's improvised music scene, in the 1990s he became one of the world's pre-eminent prepared guitar players. Since then his work has expanded to include electroacoustic compositions and live electronic music made with laptop computers and analog modular synthesizers.
