Peel Session is an album by electronic duo Autechre, released on vinyl and CD by Warp Records on 11 January 1999. It consists of material recorded for John Peel's Radio 1 sessions in late 1995. The session was first broadcast on 9 October 1995. The sleeve is designed by Sheffield-based design agency The Designers Republic. Drane was selected by Warp Records co-founder Steve Beckett as one of his 14 absolute favourite tracks from the Warp catalogue for the Warp20 Chosen compilation. Peel Session. Autechre did not actually do these in John Peel's studio, they just sent him the untitled recordings, and he reputedly assigned them Autechre-esque titles. The first Peel Session album made by Autechre isn't anything that is absolutely essential by Autechre fans, but it's something interesting from the days of Tri Repetae. This album is only 3 tracks long, but is still over 25 minutes long. Milk DX starts it off in a rather confusing manner. This song is more reminiscent of Amber, which was an excellent album, but was rather inconsistent. Things pick up with Inhake 2, which is actually one of my favorite songs from Autechre, which has direct similarities to Tri Repetae. It is a simple beat that slowely progress.
