both "Treasure Isle Dub" Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are actually pirated versions of the official Treasure Isle dub LP's "Treasure Dub" and "Treasure Dub Vol. 2".... on the "Treasure Isle Dub" LP's, Studio One boss Coxsone Dodd's NYC address is printed on the LP label and on the LP jacket. below are the original releases by Treasure Isle:http://www.discogs.com/Arthur-Duke-Reid-Treasure-Dub/release/2283030http://www.discogs.com/Arthur-Duke-Reid-Treasure-Dub-Vol-2/release/3316137 in declining health due to cancer, Duke Reid sold his Treasure Isle label shortly before he died in September 1974 to his longtime friend Sonia Pottinger, a very successful producer in her own right. after Reid's death, Pottinger commissioned Treasure Isle engineer Errol Brown to mix the two dub LP's a year or so later, along with represses of popular back catalog singles with overdubbed drums and updated "version" mixes that are similar to the mixes on "Treasure Dub" (i.e. John Holt's "Ali Baba" single from 1969, which initially had no "version" except for one-off exclusive acetates cut as "specials" for leading sound systems such as King Tubby's Hi Fi). for some reason, Dodd also released the both of the LP's in the early 80s with the same track listing but different art work and different titles, though he seemingly had no right to do so. he also released several Treasure Isle 7" singles in the same manner with the same address listed on the label.Dodd and Duke Reid had been bitter sound system and musical rivals for many years before Reid's death. the bizarre and tangled legal battle for the Treasure Isle estate went on intermittently between Pottinger and Duke Reid's son (and the unlikely litigants Coxsone Dodd and Bunny Lee) for over 30 years. the mess was ultimately resolved in favor of Sonia Pottinger as the rightful owner, shortly before she died at the age of 79 in November 2010.the LP's pressed by Coxsone Dodd seem to be of poorer quality compared to the original TI releases - many Coxsone copies have audible and sometimes visible pressing defects.

Wrong on a couple accounts vinylnerd. Dodd didn't pirate those titles, he had a deal with Mrs. Lucille Reid. She later rescinded that and I don't think Dodd stopped issuing as he should have, but there was a deal enabling reissues.Duke did not die in September 1974. He also did not sell Treasure Isle to Sonia Pottinger. According to Lucille Reid, there was an agreement in place but Ms. Pottinger stopped making payments so the deal was not completed. You're correct that the matter was ultimately resolved in favor of Sonia Pottinger. By the Jamaica Supreme Court in fact.
