Film Review: The Reflektor Tapes. By Scott Tobias. Scott Tobias. Crew: Directed by Kahlil Joseph. With: Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury, Will Butler, Jeremy Gara. THE REFLEKTOR TAPES is a music documentary about the Canadian band, Arcade Fire. Rent . Buy . Arcade Fires first feature film is called 'The Reflektor Tapes'. The project is a unique cinematic experience, meeting at the crossroads of documentary, music, art and personal history. Kahlil Joseph had a few interesting ideas for music videos, but for his first film debut, he teamed with Arcade Fire, one of the biggest indie bands of the 2000's decade, to chronicle the bands trip to Haiti, and the subsequent tour that followed up the 2013 release. It was an interesting concept, filled with mystery and intrigue, as the trailers never really showed too much. Funnily enough, however, neither did the film. The movie itself is a fucking mess. September 22, 2015 Full Review Scott Tobias. The Reflektor Tapes is less a documentary about the making of Arcade Fire's 2013 album than a feature-length collage that does neither the band nor its fans any service. November 11, 2015 Rating: 25. Norman Wilner. NOW Toronto. Arcade Fire were never going to make your standard fly-on-the-wall documentary.
