Apollonia 6 is the only studio album released by R&B vocal trio and Prince-protégés Apollonia 6. The album was initially to be the second release by the Prince-formed group Vanity 6, but when lead singer Vanity departed Prince's camp, the musician hired Apollonia Kotero, thus changing the group's name and album. Apollonia 6, the album, primarily features the vocals of Kotero and Bennett with backing vocals by Wendy & Lisa and Jill Jones Susan Moonsie only recorded one song for this album. The album. Apollonia 6 was a 1980s American female singing trio created by Prince. After a number of disputes with Prince, Vanity Denise Matthews, the lead singer of the Prince-created Vanity 6, fled the Prince entourage in 1983 to pursue solo endeavors, recording with Motown Records and acting in films. She left open an acting position for the role written for her by Prince in the film Purple Rain. Apollonia Kotero replaced Vanity in the group. As Vanity 6 was a potent mix of camp, humor, and sex, Apollonia 6 didn't fare as well. Looks-wise, the trade was even up with Kotero adding a cute factor as well as a slightly more interesting voice. Although Apollonia 6 had everyone from the Revolution and Sheila E contributing musical ideas on the tracks Blue Limousine and A Million Miles I Love You, the lyrics are derivative. The album's last track In a Spanish Villa is nothing but ocean sounds, Wendy Melovin's guitars, and Apollonia speaking in one of her native tongues. Clocking in at 2:12, it's much too brief.
