Aqua is the seventh full-length studio album by Brazilian progressivepower metal band Angra. It was released on August 11, 2010 and August 17, 2010 in Japan and Brazil, respectively. It is their last recording to feature Edu Falaschi on lead vocals, and their only studio album on which drummer Ricardo Confessori returns. The album features returning drummer Ricardo Confessori, who had left the band with Andre Matos and Luís Mariutti in 2000 and had been since then replaced by Aquiles Priester. Type: Full-length. Angra - Aqua review: The sound of a highly-gifted band doing too much aimless wandering. Seven years and a few albums later, Angra released Aqua which is but a marginally-reminiscent work of what the group has done in prior times. The songwriting is mostly bland, failing to leave any long-lasting impression this is somewhat due to the fact the group delved more into a progressive style featuring unique and unpredictable song structures. However, when the songs fail to climax or take the reader somewhere per se, it becomes tiresome. In fact, there was no track that jumped out as a masterpiece all songs hovered in the realm of being good or acceptable. But Angra did exactly that when, in 2004, they featured none other than Nascimento himself on Late Redemption from the Temple of Shadows album. And the fact that Angra, like Sepultura, have been willing to incorporate Brazilian elements at times has made them stand out in the metal world. But while the brutal Sepultura are known for alternative metal and thrash metal, Angra have favored a melodic power metalthrash metal approach - and that outlook generally serves them well on Aqua.
