Muskrat Ramble by Andy Bartha and His Deep South Dixieland Jazz Band was written by Kid Ory and was first recorded and released by Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five in 1926. Andy Bartha and His Deep South Dixieland Jazz Band released it on the album At the Oceania Lounge in 1965. It was covered by Living Brass - Arranged and cond. by Ray Martin, Birch Creek Pro Jazz Band, The New York Allstars, Bourbon-Street-Jazzband and other artists. Bartha eventually moved south, settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he played long residencies at venues including the Top Gallant Room of Warren Fosters Moonraker Restaurant, the Oceana Lounge and the Life Lounge club. He remained based in Florida for much of his working life, playing in and often leading various traditional jazz bands, including his Deep South Dixieland Jazz Band. He also depped with various leaders, especially when they were passing through Florida, and he also sometimes sat in with musicians staying at the Key Motel. The Original Dixieland Jass Band ODJB was a Dixieland jazz band that made the first jazz recordings in early 1917. Their Livery Stable Blues became the first jazz record ever issued. The group composed and recorded many jazz standards, the most famous being Tiger Rag. In late 1917 the spelling of the band's name was changed to Original Dixieland Jazz Band.
