Behind the Eyes is the tenth studio album, and fifteenth album by Christian music and pop music singer Amy Grant, released in 1997. Issued near the end of Grant's marriage to Christian singer-songwriter Gary Chapman, many of the songs on Behind the Eyes reflect Grant's struggles in her marriage and all relate to a theme of optimism. Upon its release, it went to No. 2 on Billboard's Christian albums chart and No. 8 on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, the first single from the album, Takes a Little Time. When Behind the Eyes came out in 1997, Amy Grant had been recording for 20 years. And it was obvious that she still had a lot left to say. In contrast to the high-tech slickness that characterized some of her previous A&M efforts, the earthy Eyes finds Grant playing a lot of jangly acoustic guitar and bringing a folk appeal to her pop-rock. Most of the writing is excellent, and Grant offers some of the most meaningful, insightful songs of her career. Behind The Eyes. Amy Grant - Behind The Eyes 1997. To favorites 0 Download album. A little different than her usual fare of Christian Pop and Contemporary Pop albums due to the darker tone, the sorrow and even pain in some of the lyrics. Been a fan of all of her albums, but this one is most powerful. Amy Grant has built a long, successful career on music that matters. Ever since she burst on the scene as a fresh-faced teenager bringing contemporary Christian music to the forefront of American culture, the Nashville native gained a reputation for creating potent songs that examined life the Eyes. Behind The Eyes came out in 1997, almost ten years after Grant switched to A&M Records, coming out of the Christian market. Still, matters of faith continue to be a focal point of her music and people looking for spiritual themes will not be disappointed by her blend of secular realism and Christian beliefs
