Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26, is one of the most popular violin concertos in the repertoire and, along with the Scottish Fantasy, the composer's most famous work. It has been recorded often. The concerto was first completed in 1866 and the first performance was given on 24 April 1866 by Otto von Königslow, with Bruch conducting. The concerto was then considerably revised with help from celebrated violinist Joseph Joachim and completed in its present form in 1867. The premiere. Béla Bartók's Violin Concerto No. 1, Sz. 36, BB 48a was written in the years 19071908, but only published in 1956, after the composer's death, as Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. It was premiered on 30 May 1958 in Basel, Switzerland.
